Unlimited: Led by the Spirit

For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God (Romans 8:14).
Some people think that a person’s position, title, learning, preaching or musical talents, or apparent spiritual giftedness tells you that they are led by the Spirit. But this is not necessarily the case.
What is the external sign that someone is allowing the Spirit to lead in their lives? It may be surprising to some that the external sign of the leading of the Spirit are not the “gifts of the Spirit,” but rather the “fruit of the Spirit,” as Paul describes it in Gal. 5:22–23:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law (Gal. 5:22–23).
Genuine love for others is the number one sign that a person is being led by the Spirit.
The first of these is love (See also 1 Cor 13:13). The apostle John agrees that genuine love for others is the number one sign that a person is being led by the Spirit:
This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: … 14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death (1 John 3:10,14.)
Remember the words of our Lord,
By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another (John 13:35).
Be truthful to yourself. Are you known for your love towards others? Is that one of the first things that people think about when they think of you?
