Unlimited: The Lord Needs It

As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of his disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’”

They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it,some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?”They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go (Mark 11:1–6, NIV).

Jesus approached Jerusalem, and as he does so, he made a seemingly unusual request.

It’s a request with an important spiritual lesson.

A colt wasn’t something that would ordinarily simply be lent to strangers at all!

There are two possibilities that explain what happened here. The first possibility is that Jesus prearranged this with the owners of the colt. The second possibility is that Jesus’ fame preceded him, and that the owners of the colt, knew who Jesus was and were happy to lend it to him.

This colt was an extremely expensive commodity back in those days: someone’s prized possession.

Yet this person was willing to give it to Jesus, no questions asked, just because Jesus asked for it.

Eli’s Reflection: What is your most prized possession? If Jesus were to ask you to give it to him, would you do it?

My love for someone called Bethany ( ironically) is what I would give Jesus Christ if he asked and I know he will give her back to me blessed so it's a no brainer really but I also understand that Jesus knows my heart better than I do and will fill it joy unimaginable amen
