Unlimited: The Messiah is God Over All

the Messiah who is God over all, forever praised! Amen (Romans 9:5b).
There are still some people who think that Jesus was not divine, or that he was not God, or that he was some kind of minor god, but not Lord God Jehovah. There are also some people who think that in the early years of Christianity, Jesus was considered by his followers to be more or less merely a man, and that somehow the leaders of the Christian church changed their doctrinal beliefs to elevate Jesus to the position of God.
Jesus is God over all.
Yet here is one of the clearest statements of the full divinity of the Messiah, Jesus Christ, in the entire New Testament. It not only clearly states that Jesus is “God over all,” but also that this is how his first followers viewed him after his resurrection. When he rose from the dead, he said to his disciple Thomas,
…“Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!” (John 20:27–28.)
For any Jew, like Thomas, to call anyone else by the name of God, other than the Lord God Jehovah, was blasphemy, punishable by death. In doing so, Thomas was finally recognizing that Jesus was the one true God, come to them in the flesh.
Try to answer this question: Why is the reality that Jesus is the Jehovah God of the Old Testament important for the Gospel?
