Deuteronomy 31:8
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.” (ESV)
That’s Moses speaking to God’s people before they attempt to go into the promised land for the second time. And what a wonderful promise for them to hold on to!
We may not be about to walk into a physical promised land here and now. But in Jesus we have one who has gone before us.
He has walked the deepest valleys in his death and resurrection. He has paved the way.
We can for certain know that he is always with us. That he will not leave us nor forsake us.
And we have no reason to fear or be dismayed. Because we know him.
