Ezekiel 37:5
Thus says the Lord God to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.
What a remarkable picture! What a remarkable vision for the prophet Ezekiel!
In a valley of dry bones, can they be raised? Yes, they can.
How God does it? God breathes. God’s Spirit brings new life where there is death.
What a word of hope and comfort for God’s people in the time of Ezekiel, after they return from exile. A picture of restoration from where there was death.
And what an even greater fulfilment of that promise in Jesus! The one who lived, the one who died, the one who was raised again, and who promises all who trust in him that our tombs will likewise be empty. Where there was death and lifelessness, in Christ because he was first raised, we will also be raised.
Perhaps today you need to be reminded that God is a God of resurrections, bringing life where there perhaps is currently death.
