The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit. (ESV)
Stop right there. Stop scrolling. Listen along. Are you brokenhearted? Are you feeling crushed in your spirit?
Listen carefully to that promise from Psalm 34.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Friends, whatever you’re going through, whatever is before you, whatever you are carrying, let me urge you to bring it to the Lord.
As you bring it to the Lord, may you know his peace. May you know his nearness, and may you know his offer of salvation, of deliverance.
You know, God saving us from being crushed in spirit doesn’t mean that we will automatically have a comfortable life and be spared from difficulty. But we know the one who was crushed on our behalf. We know the one who was brokenhearted on our behalf.
And as we come to Jesus, and as we bring all the stuff we’re dealing with to Jesus, he knows our need. He came into this world to bring an end to brokenheartedness, to bring an end to a crushed spirit through his life, through his death, and his resurrection.
And so, let me urge you to come to Jesus today with everything you’ve got and lay it at his feet.
