Unlimited: Grafted In

And if they do not persist in unbelief, they will be grafted in, for God is able to graft them in again (Romans 11:23).
To be “grafted in” is an agricultural or gardening term. My father always used to have grape vines. When he wanted a better or different crop, he would graft in a new scion (a younger vine) into the rootstock (the established vine). It was always a miracle to me how after a time, the new vine would start growing, and eventually it would bear fruit.
It is important to see that the salvation of Jewish people is conditional, as is true for all. It is conditional on their faith, precisely as it is for the Gentiles. The Jewish people had been “grafted in” before, and they had been cut off the vine, but now if they believe, they will be grafted in again, because God is able to graft them in again.
If they believe, they will be grafted in again, because God is able to graft them in again.
There are many verses in the Bible about God being “able” to do what we cannot do or what we think is impossible to do. However, Paul explains that God’s being “able” is always,
…in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ… (Rom. 16:25.)
Notice that God’s being “able” is in accordance with the Gospel, which is entirely by grace and through faith. He is always able, however those of Israel who wish to be grafted in must believe in him.
Spiritual Application
What hinders us in many areas of our lives, and not just in our salvation, is our unbelief. Are there any areas of your life which you are still holding back from God and remaining in unbelief?
